TANKER 63 "The GREAT PUMPKIN"

1968 Chevrolet Tanker

The story is like this: We, members of the fire crew, were discussing the fire on Swamp Poodle Rd. how if we would have had just a little more water on the initial attack, we may have saved a lot more property. Some people even asked why we did not have a Tanker. Well, we never bought one. Some how, word got out that we were possibly in the market for a Tanker. Doug Klock received a phone call from the chief of the Turbot Township Fire Company asking us if we were interested in taking ownership of their Tanker 17-1. Well, phone calls were made to the chiefs, a ride was taken to Turbot twp, some hands were shook and BAM, Herndon has a tanker. 1500 gallons EXTRA water.

And NO, we are not painting it!

Utility 63

The Herndon Fire Police unit has gained possession of a DCNR Utility Body truck. Currently, it is being prepped for paint and equipment. When the pictures of its progression become available, we will have them posted here.

This vehicle will be used to support both the Fire Police and the Fire Crew. It will carry all of our traffic control devices as well as a generator and portable pumps.  Pictures coming soon!
